Subject: headphone impedances
I have seen somewhere in the digest (hey i wont quote the whole thing just to
find the text) somebody saying that headphones have 600 ohms impedance compared
to the 4ohm speakers. Not so. Headphones typically have 16 ohm or 32 ohm when
they are for walkman and bigger headphones may have small impedance too, but
some pro headphones are in the 100-120 ohm range. I have Koss Pro2a with
116 ohm impedance. BTW, even if it's high impedance, by using the line level
out with them, it is still a very painful experience at high volumes. (with
amplified out i'd lose my hearing in about 10 minutes...). But anyway, all
this to say that with the 2 watts/channel GUS amp there should be no problem
with a headphone volume control with the typical 8 ohm speakers. BTW, there
are some very nice Koss bookshelf speakers at Price Club. They are not shielded
however...
Ciao,
